Since starting Spun in 2004 and Spun Dj’s with CJ Ranson in 2008 Fred has not looked back. Due to Spun Dj’s successful residencies at Newcastle’s Digital and Middlesbrough’s Metropolis, they were asked to do guest spots at ‘Club NME’ in Newcastle and Huddersfield and gained residencies at 93 feet east and 333 mother in London. All of this led to Spun DJs playing to 60,000 people at the Evolution festival in Newcastle last summer.
The music is never what you expect. The eclectic mix of Indie, Disco, Soul, Electro, New Wave and whatever else Fred happens to lay his hands on always guarantees a packed dance floor and a captivated crowd.
Mid 2008 also saw Fred and Chris become regular guests at ‘Push’ at The Astoria, London. Hosting their own room on a monthly basis they called on their other well known DJ friends and bands to make Spun one of the most talked about nights in London.
Glasvegas, Holy Fuck, Lord Auch, White Denim and Noah and The Whale are among a long list of bands to have DJ’d and played alongside them at ‘Push’. Fred has also clocked up a number of appearances at two of London’s hippest night spots ‘Smash and Grab’ and ‘The Old Blue Last’.
Prior to 2008 Fred has played alongside Libertines/Dirty Pretty Things, Queens of Noize and The Horrors and more recently Ipso Facto, Breakbot , Friendly Fires , Goldierocks , Peaches Geldof, The Kills, Punks Jump Up and Little Boots.
2009 started with a bang when Spun Djs played at the Moshi Moshi 10th birthday party in Paris. With confirmed slots across the country this year is set to be the best one yet for Fred and the Spun crew.
